Chinese American Coalition for Compassionate Care (“CACCC,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is a California-based nonprofit organization recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. We respect the privacy of our website visitors, program participants, volunteers, members, donors, customers, and supporters.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information in connection with www.caccc-usa.org and any CACCC webpage that links to this Policy (collectively, the “Site”). It does not apply to third-party websites or services that have their own privacy policies.
Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on how you interact with CACCC and the Site.
Information You Provide
- Contact and identification information, such as your name, email address, telephone number, mailing address, preferred language, and organization or company affiliation.
- Program and community information, such as event registrations, membership or volunteer applications, availability, survey responses, and information included in messages or forms you submit.
- Donation and transaction information, such as donor or purchaser name, contact details, donation amount and date, gift designation, billing or shipping information, and transaction records.
- Other information you choose to provide when you contact CACCC, participate in a program, submit feedback, or otherwise interact with us.
- Health-related and personal-experience information you choose to provide. CACCC generally does not request medical records or detailed health information through its general Site forms. However, you may voluntarily include health, caregiving, or other sensitive personal details in event surveys, feedback, testimonials, or communications. Please submit only information reasonably necessary for your interaction with CACCC.
Payment transactions are processed by PayPal. Donors may pay using PayPal, Venmo, or debit or credit card options powered by PayPal. CACCC does not intend to collect or store complete payment card or financial account numbers through the Site.
Information Collected Automatically
When you use the Site, CACCC and its service providers may automatically collect technical and usage information, including:
- Internet Protocol (IP) address and approximate location derived from it.
- Browser type, device type, operating system, and language settings.
- Pages viewed, links clicked, referring URLs, and dates and times of access.
- Cookie identifiers and similar technical information used for security, functionality, and analytics.
Information From Third Parties
We may receive information from services you use to interact with CACCC, such as payment processors, event-registration or webinar platforms, email service providers, and social media platforms. Their collection and use of information are also governed by their own privacy notices and your account settings.
How We Use Information
We may use personal information to:
- Respond to inquiries and provide requested resources, services, or program information.
- Register and communicate with participants, members, volunteers, speakers, and partners.
- Process donations and purchases, maintain transaction records, and send acknowledgments or receipts.
- Send newsletters, event announcements, educational materials, and other communications consistent with your choices.
- Operate, maintain, analyze, secure, and improve the Site and CACCC programs.
- Detect misuse, protect CACCC and others, and prevent fraud or security incidents.
- Comply with legal, tax, accounting, reporting, and nonprofit governance obligations.
- Create aggregated or deidentified information for program evaluation, planning, and reporting.
Email Communications and Your Choices
You may unsubscribe from newsletters and promotional emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the message or contacting info@caccc-usa.org. CACCC will process opt-out requests as required by applicable law.
Opting out of newsletters or promotional emails will not stop necessary nonpromotional or administrative communications. These may include donation receipts, purchase confirmations, program registration or schedule notices, responses to your requests, security notices, or other communications reasonably necessary to provide a service you requested or manage your relationship with CACCC.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
CACCC and its service providers may use cookies and similar technologies for Site functionality, security, analytics, and to understand how visitors use and find the Site. CACCC currently uses Burst Statistics, a WordPress analytics tool that stores analytics data within the Site’s WordPress environment. Depending on its configuration, Burst may use cookies or operate without them.
CACCC plans to add Google Analytics and Google Search Console. Google Analytics may use first-party cookies and collect device and browser data, approximate location, and activity on the Site. Google Search Console may provide search-performance information such as search queries, clicks, impressions, pages, countries, and device types. CACCC uses analytics and search-performance information to assess Site performance and improve its content and outreach.
CACCC does not currently use Meta Pixel, Google advertising pixels, Google Analytics Advertising Features, or Site information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If CACCC later enables Google Analytics Demographics and Interests reporting, Google Signals, or another advertising feature, CACCC will review and update its privacy disclosures and any required consent or opt-out tools before enabling that feature. Demographic reports, when enabled, may be aggregated or modeled, limited to eligible users, and subject to privacy thresholds.
Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Doing so may affect some Site features. Google also offers controls and an Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Third-party services process information under their own terms, privacy policies, and user settings.
Some browsers offer a Do Not Track signal or a recognized opt-out preference signal, such as Global Privacy Control. Because there is no uniform standard for Do Not Track signals, the Site may not respond to them. Where applicable law requires CACCC to recognize an opt-out preference signal, CACCC will treat the signal as a request to opt out of the activity covered by that law.
How We Disclose Information
CACCC does not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We also do not disclose personal information to unrelated third parties for their own direct marketing or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may disclose information in the following circumstances:
- Service providers. Vendors that support website hosting, email communications, analytics, registrations, webinar delivery, payment processing, information technology, data storage, and other operational needs.
- Legal and safety purposes. Government authorities, courts, law enforcement, professional advisers, or other parties when disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, security, or property.
- With your direction or consent. Other parties when you ask us to disclose information or authorize us to do so.
CACCC requires its service providers to process personal information consistent with their services to CACCC and applicable contractual and legal obligations.
Donations and Payment Processing
CACCC uses GiveWP, a WordPress donation platform, to provide online donation forms, donor profiles, donation history, receipts, and donor-dashboard functions. GiveWP-related donor information may be stored within CACCC’s WordPress website and related hosting environment. Payment transactions are processed by PayPal. Donors may pay using PayPal, Venmo, or debit or credit card options powered by PayPal. PayPal receives payment information under its own privacy statement and terms. CACCC may receive donor or purchaser contact information, transaction amount, date, payment status, and related records needed to acknowledge the transaction, maintain nonprofit records, respond to questions, and comply with law.
CACCC does not sell donor information or disclose it to unrelated third parties for their own marketing. Donation terms, including receipts and refunds, are addressed in the Terms of Use below.
Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to provide programs and services, maintain donor and transaction records, resolve disputes, protect the Site, and meet legal, tax, accounting, and nonprofit reporting obligations. Retention periods vary by the type of information and the reason it was collected.
Data Security
CACCC uses reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No website, storage system, or internet transmission is completely secure. Complete security cannot be assured.
Your Privacy Rights and Requests
Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of certain personal information, or to object to or limit certain uses. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
To submit a privacy request, email info@caccc-usa.org or write to the address in the Contact Us section. We may need to verify your identity and authority before acting on a request. A request may be limited or denied when permitted or required by law, including when CACCC must retain information for legal, tax, security, recordkeeping, or transaction purposes.
California Privacy Rights
The California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, the CCPA), generally does not apply to nonprofit organizations. CACCC is a nonprofit organization and does not represent that the CCPA applies to every CACCC activity.
If the CCPA or another California privacy law applies to a particular processing activity, California residents may have rights provided by that law. Depending on the circumstances, these may include rights to know, access, correct, or delete personal information; to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; to limit certain uses of sensitive personal information; and to be free from unlawful discrimination for exercising a privacy right. CACCC does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Even when the CCPA does not apply, CACCC will consider reasonable requests to access, correct, or delete personal information, subject to verification and legal, security, operational, and recordkeeping limitations. California residents may submit a request using the contact methods above. An authorized agent may submit a request when permitted by law, but CACCC may request proof of authorization and verification of the resident’s identity.
Third-Party Websites and Services
The Site may link to or use third-party websites, forms, videos, social media platforms, donation processors, or other services. CACCC does not control their privacy or security practices. Review the privacy notices and terms of those services before providing information.
Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and CACCC does not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13 without legally required parental consent. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the Site, contact us so we can review the matter and take appropriate action.
International Users
CACCC is based in the United States. If you access the Site from another country, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your location.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on the Site and update the ‘Last Updated’ date. Material changes may also be communicated by other reasonable means when appropriate or required by law.
