Dear CACCC volunteers, sponsors and supporters,
It is my pleasure to reintroduce Alex Tsao, PhD and Cynthia X. Pan, MD, in a volunteer capacity as the new Co-Executive Directors of Chinese American Coalition for Compassionate Care effective January 1, 2026.


Cynthia X. Pan, MD, FACP, AGSF: Dr. Pan is Chief of Geriatrics and Palliative Care Medicine and Director of Graduate Medical Education at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens (NYPQ), and Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell. She founded NYPQ’s Palliative Care Program and mentors fellows and interdisciplinary teams. A national and international speaker, she speaks English, Mandarin, and Spanish, and is the author of Exit Strategies: Living Lessons from Dying People. Dr. Pan is a CACCC board member. She brings expertise in palliative medicine content, grants and development, and operational implementation.
Alex Tsao, PhD: Alex has been a CACCC volunteer since 2007. He is a CACCC board member and past board chair. Alex leads the Speaker’s Bureau and Suicide Prevention program. He is an instructor for the Mindful Self-Care program and Poetic Medicine program. Alex has retired from the technology industry. For the past 20 years, he has been active in community volunteer work. He is currently a member of Alzheimer’s Association’s National Board of Directors. He is also an advisory board member for the Chinese Health Initiative at El Camino Health, a Tzu Chi Foundation He Xin Group (Leadership Board) member and the New Hope Chinese Cancer Care Foundation advisory board member.
I am grateful for their commitment, with my deepest appreciation for CACCC and all the Chinese communities globally. I can step down from my ED position and focus on program and curriculum development and patient, volunteer and caregiver support.
